March 8, 2021 at 10:40 pm in reply to: 2021 Padme, 9 yr F/S, Johnson City TN, Resource Guarder, Not good with other dogs, No children #26976
03-08-2021: She’s territorial. In their house, no dogs can come over. She gets along with their doodle. Has gone to dog parks, but You have to watch her. She can be the alpha dog. After 20 min she thinks the toys in the dog park are hers. But overall she does well.
On leash, she pulls very hard. Not great on leash. Use harness and that helps. She barks and wants to play when she encounters another dog. If it is a hard dog, a mean dog, she’ll respond. When they go to his mom’s house, she will take bones and hold them. And she won’t eat the food there. His mom has a Weimaraner. Doesn’t do well with shepherds or Australian shepherd. They go at it.
Been around children. a 4-year-old but resource aggressive. She growls when she’s in the kennel. She’ll growl if the doodle comes closer to her kennel.
Not aggressive to humans. She gets excited and jumps up. she gets excited and licks at fingers. No problem. Not really biting at them.

February 6, 2021 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Private: Charlie fka Sherlock (Watson’s Brother) 2 yrs old w Addie Andrews #2668602-06-21: More: Addie is afraid of Charlie now. I told her she can take him to her vet and have him completely checked out – hearing, eyesight, a simple neuro exam, wellness check and we will pay for that and board him. She told me she has a friend who is in the kennel club with her and her hiking friend, and he trains dogs and loves Charlie. She thinks he may be interested in taking Charlie. I told her if he would foster him, we will handle medical.
Pat, it may be that be will need to be PTS. The way she describes the bite to the child doesn’t sound aggressive, just grumpy. He walked into the playroom and wanted to lie down where Jackson, the child, was, so he nipped him on the leg. He didn’t go into attack mode like he did with the friend’s Goldendoodle dog. The GD had on a prong collar and Charlie got a mouth full of metal that made him bleed. Probably saved the GD’s life.
February 6, 2021 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Private: Charlie fka Sherlock (Watson’s Brother) 2 yrs old w Addie Andrews #2668502/06/21: Good advice from Corinna Murray. Yesterday she and friend hiking on trail they use all the time. For an hour it was fine. Her dog is a GD pup and unpredictable and energetic. Jump and Charlie didn’t like it and they’d go on. Out of the blue, nothing changed, the dog walked up to Charlie and Charlie attacked him. Stood up on his back legs and jumped and grabbed him by the neck. They’ve been training.
Jackson was playing in his room and Charlie has nipped at people – steps over him – hired trainer. Don’t let him sleep in the middle of floor. Nipping not a problem. Charlie went into playroom and wanted to lie down and just reached over and nipped Jackson in the leg.January 16, 2021 at 5:15 pm in reply to: Private: Ellen Pesko, Glendale Springs, NC 28629 Prev Adopter #2656901-16-21: After the exchange with Ellen above in 2018, I apparently mis-categorized her app and put her in “Cold Day in H” rather than “Waiting for Spare Dale.” They are right next to each other in the topic list! I have now moved her to “Waiting,” and emailed her to make sure we have her correct address.

January 13, 2021 at 5:21 pm in reply to: Joshua Toepper, Atlanta, GA, Not ADT exp., 0 pets, 0 kids, 8-9 hr alone #265541) barking and shedding – talk about that
2) on his long workdays – what will his Airedale be doing?
3) Will he consider doggy daycare or dog walker
4) If the Airedale is home all day with the roommate (what does the roommate do all day?), the Airedale is likely to bond with the roommate
5) When did he last have a big dogRoommate will simply be home working and not necessarily taking care of his dog. She would simply be available. There are friends – Resources – in neighborhood – lot of friends and folks work from home in community, if he needs someone to help. Doggy daycare is an option. Roommate has no experience with large dogs. He would make provisions for taking care of Airedale during the day. She works in the room. The dog would have free rein of the home.
In am he would probably amend his schedule and walk or run with his Airedale in the morning. Then when he gets home in the late afternoon, he would do another walk/run with his Airedale and be there the rest of the day with him.
He plans to add a dog door. The roommate does speak English; she’s from the UK! When Julie asked for her info, he did not have her number. I’m not worried about her or even think that she needs to be present for the hv.

Jan 11th would have been her last Airedale’s 10th BD (Hers was the 10th!). Nigel had sinus cancer. Then he had a seizure. She will take either gender; interested in 4-5 year old.01-13-21: Mary Ann King said vet reference was good.
