October 2, 2018 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Private: Erin K. Johnson, New Bern, NC – Airedale Experienced #20064
10/02/18: Erin Johnson emailed saying she needs to surrender Livi.
Just spoke to Erin. My notes:
Teary, their living arrangements have changed; no more fence. Moved into an RV to travel the country. Stationary right now. She’s on the lead and a tie-out and an e-fence that she does not respect. She’s slipped out a couple of times the last 2 weeks and they have chased her for hours. They fear for her safety. Live out in Newport closer to the beach. When they have their house, she would sipped out the front door, she would run. No regard for any type of enticement.Livi is 5, 6 in Feb. Health good. Very anxious, takes 50 mg of trazadone daily and has for a long time. She does fine with their children but she’s aggressive to other people. She will lunge at people barking. She has done that since they’ve had her. Very protective. Does not like blond women. Prefers men. Killed a cat. Anxious all the time – her entire demeanor, pinned back ears, panting. en garde most of the time. they have tried a lot of meds for her. She goes into crate – if you make her. She doesn’t choose to go in there. Okay alone.
Other dogs, depends on dog. She’ll be aggressive at first and they figure out their pecking order. No little dogs.
I’ve asked her to fill out the Release and send photos and have their vet send records.
Sheesh!
October 1, 2018 at 11:01 pm in reply to: Private: Taylor & Jennifer Hawke; Georgia Davis, Atlanta, GA #2006210/01/18: Spoke to Taylor Hawke. Jennifer is her sister, and Georgia Davis is a roommate. Her sister Jennifer is probably going to be living with her for at least 1 to 1-1/2 years; Georgia is getting married in February and moving right behind her. But Taylor owns the house so she’s not going anywhere.
Georgia has an Australian Shepherd, very well trained, great dog, but they spend a lot of time at her fiancé’s house.
Taylor has not had a dog as an adult. Growing up they had a Jack Russell Terrier and later chihuahuas. But she met an Airedale when she was in CA for work and liked the dog so much that she started doing research and loved what she read. She loves that they’re very smart and athletic and they don’t really shed like other dogs. I talked to her about their prey drive and how they can’t be trusted off-leash in an unfenced area. She said she had read that they have a high prey drive and appreciated understanding more about it.
She leaves for work between 8 and 8:30 and gets home around 6:00. But her sister is a teacher and she gets home around 3:00. Taylor can also come home for lunch if she needs to so that she can walk her dog. On the weekend, they are pretty active. They’ll go to dog parks or visit friends and their friends have dogs: French bulldog, mixed-breed rescues, and her roommate’s dog, an Australian Shepherd.
My only concern is that she has not had a dog as an adult. But, she’s 29 years old, owns her own home. Sounds responsible.
I’ll find a home visit volunteer. She lives in the Buckhead area.

Thank you.

Subject: Rescue Needed, NashvilleHi, Jackie,
We’ve been alerted to an Airedale in need in Nashville. I can’t get him and the nearer volunteer, Sandra Mauk, is sick and cannot go. Do you have anyone in Nashville or that area?
Thanks,

Hi, Christy,
I am with ATRA in Kentucky; Sandra reached out to me because she is not able to come get Keegan from you. I am
unable to come down there myself, so I have contacted the intake coordinator for Airedale Rescue Group in Tennessee. They have volunteers in Nashville and should be able to help you with Keegan very soon.~Mary Huntsman

I’m happy to help and connect some dots. Jackie is on vacation in Florida so hopefully you all can get me up to speed. Is the dog going to an ARG foster home? I’m not aware of who was getting him but we have our Nashville volunteers who are always helpful!Christina Prange
919-605-456309/26/18: Checked in with Kate & Shane. They adopted an Airedale from a Pit rescue in Jacksonville, FL. The Airedale was in the prison training program.
They are not in the market to adopt right now but can foster, etc.
His name is Cash and they think he is a little more than 1 year old. she sent photos and he is gorgeous and looks so mischievous!

September 26, 2018 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Private: Leo (fka Baby Boy & Max), 1 to 1-1/2 yo, Adopted by Kristina Tuzova #2004209/26/18: Baby Boy is with Alexandra as of 09/20/18. He will be adopted by Kristina Tuzova. Alexandra doesn’t think this will be a good home for him because Kristina is a single mom with 2 boys and lives in a condo. Alexandra thinks he should have a big yard to play in and thinks that he will be too much for Kristina’s 10-year-old Airedale Ralph who she adopted from us in March 2018.
Kristina has pledged to take time off from work so she can work with Baby Boy to acclimate him to her home and to Ralph.
(As an aside, Alexandra Day doesn’t think this will be a good home for Baby Boy because he’ll drive the 10-y-o Airedale crazy, because Kristina is a single mom with little time (Kristina has never said that), and that there is no yard. Alexandra has been critical in us getting this Airedale; her friend Ariane let ARG use her rescue registration to pull this pup. I hope that Alexandra doesn’t try to create a problem. Just a heads up.)
09/21/18: Rosie is already microchipped through
Home Again 985113000613258I called HA and they will seek a release from Chad Hood her prev owner and transfer her to us. They will notify us via email at info@ARG when that has been completed.
Daphne got Rosie out of the kennel yesterday from being spayed, but Daphne is having some health issues and needs to take her back for boarding this weekend. She’s a very sweet dog but she is a wild child.
September 19, 2018 at 12:29 pm in reply to: Private: Teresa & Spencer Robinson, Blountville, TN 37617 #2001509/18/18: Cathy Biersack with ATRVA forwarded an application from Teresa Robinson to ARG. JMC responded to Cathy and Teresa that Teresa is approved for adoption; we are just waiting on the HV volunteer’s report. Sue Taylor had already notified Teresa that she was approved.
September 17, 2018 at 8:53 pm in reply to: Private: Leo (fka Baby Boy & Max), 1 to 1-1/2 yo, Adopted by Kristina Tuzova #2001009/16/18: Per Lori Day, he is heart worm negative and the vet estimates he’s between 1 and 1.5 years. Very sweet, very hyper.
He was so matted he had to be clipped closely. Told her to get him chipped, everything checked out.09/17/18: Oh, great, Daphne. Good report! I just responded to your text.
Yes, check her teeth but don’t clean unless they say it’s necessary. As for the skin, did the vet think it could be some kind of mange or did they rule that out?
I like the name choices, but let’s not consider Lily or Lucy – too many of those through ARG in the last couple of years. Please choose from your list and I’ll go with it!
Thank you, Daphne!
