10/30/18: Asked if she could foster Scruffy from Village Vets who just had surgery. She can’t.
October 30, 2018 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Private: Taylor & Jennifer Hawke; Georgia Davis, Atlanta, GA #2025610/30/18: Hollie will do the HV. I’ve connected them via email.
Wow, how great to hear from you all. Cosmo is such a gorgeous boy and I happen to love that 1-ear-up, 1-ear-down look. It automatically brings a smile.
So, 2 years? I, of course, remember him, but I had to go back in our records to remind myself of what his story was. How fortunate for him that you were ready when he came along.
It sounds like he fits perfectly in your family – long walks and cuddles with Amanda, destroying the forts your boys build, walks in the woods with you (I’m amazed he responded to your call while chasing a deer!), and trips to the dog park with everyone.
Please tell me who you used for his training – in home, in group, and in-board training. We often need to find a trainer for a new adopter. I anticipate we may need one for a young female Airedale we just placed this past weekend in Atlanta. And we’re getting two young male ‘dales this week, who may need training, in the Atlanta area. (Are you guys ready for another?)
I appreciate very much your letting us know how your boy is doing. The reason we all do this is for happy endings to sometimes bad beginnings.
Thank you.

Can you believe it’s been two years since we rescued Cosmo? Our beloved, mischievous and everyone’s best friend Cosmo. Where to start 🙂
We have learned a lot about dog parenting. Specifically Airedale parenting. Wow. Cosmo has a lot of energy. But so far we’ve been able to keep up. He loves going for walks and knows our neighborhood well. I always laugh when he decides to go the long or short route by a simple turn of his head at the fork in the road. So very smart. We go to a dog park at least once a week. Cosmo is very popular and gets along fantastically with all dogs, he especially loves the little and very big ones. We also go to a heavily shaded trail a few mins from the house. He’s most happy in the woods. Before there were rules I would let him walk without a leash – which he did great with. One time however a deer caught the corner of my eye. In a flash Cosmo went on a five mins romp through the woods and as soon as I yelled his name I heard him halt and suddenly run in my direction. We were both elated 🙂
Cosmo has had a personal trainer at the house; an eight-week group training session; and we sent him to a dog trainer for two weeks. He impressed everyone quickly but he’s still working on jumping on new friends and not counter surfing. He knows all the basic commands and will show off as long as a treat is visible.
Our boys adore him. They play really well and love trips to the dog park with tennis balls. They have a love hate anytime a fort is built- Cosmo does not have good fort manners 😉
Amanda and Cosmo are best buds. She takes him on the longest walks and he knows it. She’s also the one always asking for extra cuddles.
As for me and Cosmo, he’s my best friend. Shoot he’s my shadow 🙂 he’s most mischievous with me. Example if its 1030a and I haven’t walked him yet he’ll flaunt having my hat or shoe in front of me and run around the house.if I don’t chase him he’ll persist. We’re working on this still 🙂 but overall he’s just a fantastic lovable and happy-go-lucky Cosmo. As I type this he’s outside chasing squirrels from inside the fence.Life wouldn’t be right without Cosmo and we are grateful for his love and companionship.
Here’s a picture from earlier today.
It’s always one ear up-one ear down. That’s his thing. And we love it!
Hope all is well with you and your rescue efforts. Thanks for taking the time to read my email and thank you so much for choosing our family. Cosmo aka the hipster doofus is one of us 100 percent!
Respectfully,
Adam and Amanda

She and her husband are absolutely animal lovers. Since this application (back in July) they have adopted a wire-haired dachshund, who ended up in a shelter and had no home. Her husband is a contractor and after Katrina he was working in MS and spending a lot of time away from home so he adopted a Border Collie, Boone, who has been a wonderful dog. He’s about 12-13 now and sleeps a lot. The dachshund is a dear and the dogs get along great. But they still want an Airedale.
They are willing to wait and understand that we do not have the dog for them right now. They want a male, not a puppy, young and still playful but not bouncing off the walls. They travel a lot so it must like to ride in cars and be social with people and other dogs. They have a houseboat on a lake so he would be taught how to like that. All her dogs wear life jackets.
They have rental cottages in Long Beach, MS and said let them know if we ever are interested. Yes.

10/29/18: Jim Soggs called and said his daughter is really struggling with this and wants to keep Harley. She has really bonded with her over the past week. (SIGH!)He talked about how now that the daughter is really paying attention to Harley, her behavior is better. I asked how old his daughter is (thinking, oh, maybe 6, 8 years old). No, she’s 20!!!!He feels there’s only a 1% chance that they will keep Harley, but he wanted to warn me in advance. Sheesh!
And, I have already sent the email to him and to the McGinleys about the transfer to take place this Wednesday, the 31st. They will meet in Gaffney, about 3 hours from each of their homes.

Hi, Jackie. I was preparing your information for the home visit and realized we never even interviewed you back when you originally applied in July. So, before we can do the home visit, you and I need to have a phone conversation. Let me know a good time to talk. I look forward to learning more about you and your experience with Airedales.Jackie

10/30/18: No need to HV Rowan. I asked if they’d consider fostering one of the Atlanta boys.

March 2018: Princess Janie went to the Rainbow Bridge. In an email 10/29/18 Hollie said:
She developed large tumors that grew so fast- she lost all function in a matter of weeks. I was with her and able to hold her as she crossed over the rainbow bridge. It’s truly the most heartbreakingly painful thing I’ve experienced. My heart just feels empty, it I’m grateful for the 10 years we had together.
10/26/18: Asked Hollie if she can do HV for Taylor Hawke.
10/30/18: Hollie will do HV.-

Hi, Selena. How long ago did he take the dogs? Did you continue to take your WFT there after that? Was he responsible for the WFT bill at that time as well? I want to understand.
Jackie
(From Selena) Because Chad took the girls there and he never paid the vet bill. He takes them somewhere else now. I do not know where and I no longer have the wired fox terrier.
I understand totally and if you decide not to let me adopt then I will understand.
Thank youSelena Sproul Nelson

Hi, Jody. I called your vet’s office today and they would not give me a reference. I asked if they needed permission from you and they said they did not.
We cannot adopt to you without a vet reference. Can you explain why they would not give us one?
