Ok Emily Huffman called me back this afternoon. I am convinced they are true animal lovers and will rescue anything that needs help. The vet’s office said they are very committed animal people and take every measure possible for their well being.
I asked about leaving a dog alone for 8 hours and she was quick to tell me that her partner only lives 20 minutes from home and comes home for lunch and that she herself doesn’t work too far from home and could always come home. They have a doggy door that her current dogs use to go in out of. It sounds like they live on a huge farm. They have horses also, plus a cat and a big rabbit. They do have a swimming pool that is accessible to their dogs, which she said one loves to swim and the other hates the water.
They have no problems using a crate if needed, they have several sizes at their house.
The possible issues to me would be finding an Airedale that has a very low prey drive, likes kids (they have lots of visitors that have kids and their two lab mixes just let them crawl all over them, as labs always do). I think a home visit should be conducted so that someone can actually see their home and see the interactions going on there. Maybe someone who visits could reinforce how many Airedales have very strong prey drives and that it might take some time to find, if ever, a suitable rescue for them. But I know they would probably give any animal an excellent loving home. The best time for them for a home visit would be anytime after 5 pm or on the week=ends. Do we know anyone in Alabama who could do a home visit with them?
Thanks
Sue

Here is a list of what this Aire-boy needs from your vet. You may provide this list to your vet for their convenience. As long as you are fostering him, we will pay for all veterinary care and or boarding for same. Please ask them to contact me for authorizations and payment.
Vet Instructions
Evaluate general health of Airedale and make recommendations for any needed treatment, medications, x-rays, etc. (ARG representative, Jackie Cash, will consult with vet staff on any recommendations.)
Have vet estimate age of Airedale if age is unknown.
Perform all recommended vaccinations, including flu vaccine (if the state has reported cases).
Test and treat for known parasites, including all worms and fleas/ticks. (Begin flea/tick preventative as recommended by vet.)
Test for heart worms.
If positive, try to determine how strongly positive.
If negative, begin treatment with heart worm preventative. (See Heart Worm Treatment Protocol.)
Insert microchip registered to ARG. (See *below.)
Spay/neuter if Airedale is intact.
Bathe and/or groom (if needed).
Evaluate interaction with other dogs (and cats if it can be done safely).
Have the vet fax records to ARG at 815-301-2959 or email them to info@airedalerescuegroup.com.

Pats Painter’s comments – she had HV Kristi and had concerns on them taking Sr Duke but she really thought she was getting Charlie. No worries Pat is good.
