October 17, 2019 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Jazzy (Klaina), 2 yr 7 mo F/S, O’Conner Dale Adopted by Tarkingtons #23850bay 10.17.19
Just want to say Jazzy/new name to be found is so sweet. Loves to give kisses. Since Monday, she has been cage aggressive with 3 terriers in her face but when out alone and 3 terriers look at her through the study door – not at all. Of course, this is all new to her and is plenty unsure. She is beautiful, good coat and small 50 or less. Likes to chase the ball and will bring it back. I have not tried out Andreas numerous commands but I only point to inside the crate to get her to go in. She sits and settles at the door and does not charge out. I am ready to introduce her to Bishop as the goofiest and laid back dog he can be. Just have to get my energy up to try. (have a cold) I do have a kind muzzle to try out.She walks well on the leash in and out of the backyard. She is a dog guided by her nose and smells for those pesky rabbits. Not found. Tuesday a buck snorted from the pasture we were walking by. I knew who it was but she did not. We turned and walked away. Though fascinated with the horse has only stopped still to stare. No charging. Yesterday she got zapped by the back yard sheep fencing – just a little too close but I let her go so she would respect the fence. Horse is typically on the other side.
All and all a very good girl. Photos and more as I feel better. I will post on board.

Hello Carla
I am one of the volunteers for the Airedale Rescue Group.
We received the home visit report and your note of concern regarding the introduction of Asya and Harry.
As you probably know, Airedales were bred for hunting small animals. While this is manageable in most Airedales, it is a built in trait that can be triggered without warning.Given that that Aysa was feeling threatened by a large dog and that you have a very young child, I do not believe an Airedale has the right temperament for your family. I’m sure you would agree that we must consider the safety of your child above all else.
Thank you again for reaching out to ARG.
Best regards,Bay

8.29.19 bay Bella is like Casey but worse. After all she is 7 and has languished at a farm with no attention. Not bad dog just scared. Stays in the crate even if door is open. Scared of people movement. Only goes outside to pee or poo. No walking….drags back to the door and runs into the crate. Don and I will test her with dixie doodle as non airedale and see what happens. Then I will call sisters and see if they are up for a quiet scared dog. I am also going to scissor her Friday pm with Don. I will keep you updated.

She plays well with Bishop and Brave. She is now walking well on a leash in the pasture while brave plays Frisbee in AM. Sometimes she just wants to sit and lay down outside. She knows Go for a walk. She is amazingly quiet around the horses and pointed to a snake one day.
PM its Bishop and they play in barn. I would love to bring her to the house but it is bound to cause a fight just because she is also fixated on me…so no go. L
She knows the word cookie. its peanut butter or was cbd oil. No longer that excited without duke so no more oil. Im feeding egg or yogurt he fab with aam pm. I try to work in lunch some days when I can.
She was good in the car but didn’t jump up. Fourth time in a car. She is so tiny Don just lifts her in. She was really great at Macs house. Timid but able to explore and show respect to their female.
Patrick built a new wall block on the stall bars. She cant slip through them so still tied in that stall since she will jump over the 4″ wall on the other side. She did get out of a crate by pulling the bars apart with her teeth. No go on when crated alone. Might be crated with or next to another dog.
She only escapes to come to the house so wants to BE with her people or the dogs. I am sure she would be fine in the house and when I leave with other dogs. Like Cherry Berry she will not escape a loving home.

We wish you the best of luck with Duke. We have years of experience with Airedales in our membership and through our contacts across the country, so wherever you move, you can reach out if you have questions or need help.
Here’s the phone number I had for you: 720-329-4920 from your Form.

Thank you!Lex LeedsMay 26, 2019 at 6:31 pm in reply to: Private: Mackenzie Caldwell, Raleigh, move to Clt Approved with fence improvements #228625.26.19 BAYager went with Casey for HV and possible adoption on the spot.
I never had people not take a dog I was taking to them. The mom dad bf and mac came out as I explained the paperwork.
Then in the backyard Casey was shy but warmed up with their 11 yr old airedale girl. Bf and Mom never came out. Dad wouldn’t let the Newfoundland pup out as he is too rough??? I kept saying she loves to play. Mac asked her dad if they wanted to think it over. He said yes. So we came home. Mac said she would let me know next week. But I would say the dad is saying no.
Also for a tiny dale they will need to put up metal 4 x 4 wire fencing inside of their wrought iron fence and possible electric sheep fencing on plasric posts. The gate is not to the ground and broken. The fence at the other side of the house has a bent post that a tiny 50 lbs dog would get through. One fence side is brick – on a busy road so need a broader heavier dog or one too lazy to jump over or dig under fence. I did not go into this as their attitude was negative on Casey.I say we keep looking as I believe Mac can not say yes. Mac said she would let me know next week.

May 25, 2019 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Private: Mackenzie Caldwell, Raleigh, move to Clt Approved with fence improvements #228355 25 19 BAY called lm and f/u with email to visit with casey this weekend. Will ask if she can handle as I cant control a dog with one hand in a new setting.
From Ben about Duke: He was born 1/23/14. His next 3 year Rabies shot is due 3/21/20. Occasionally (2X a year or less), he’ll get a silver dollar size hot spot on his right flank, but nothing that survives a medicated shampoo or two. He lets me know when he needs my help by licking it incessantly. Dig/chew outside? That’s one of his favorite pastimes. Chew inside? Well, he seems drawn to our wooden window sills and shades when I leave him free run inside our home for more than a few hours. He’s a bigger Airedale He’s at 85 pounds right now by my scale. He’s got at least 5-10 pounds of fat him. He gets all that he wants and then some. He’s a beast! (Ben had provided the following as general info on all of his ‘dales: They all learn to be calm, obedient and submissive to me. Putting their paws/mouth on me is never allowed. It’ll always get a rebuke and/or I’ll make them flop. They all chew/dig. As they get older, they learn not to chew stuff in our home. I still wouldn’t trust them around my heirlooms.)
From Barbara about Duke:
Duke is beautiful and sweet. What a love. Would like him to be with a large woman or man so the leaning of 88 pounds doesn’t take anyone out. He is good on the leash in the barn but I would not be able to hold him if he got excited. (I am currently 100 pounds). He will be neutered on Tuesday so will be good to be placed after that.
Update: I don’t see Duke with other males. Female sure. No really small dogs or varmints – i.e. cats either. Yes someone home most of the day or just short days away is good but he really does sleep most of the time. They are getting out 3 x a day for an hour. He is very much wanting to bond; when we sit in the barn he hops up on the trunk and sits with us. He is used to the routine now so no more FOG HORN BARKING but that bark is NOT for an apartment dweller or condo either.5.5.19 BAY: James donated $500 4.21.19 (typically 2 x year) Asked about Duke – have several email and one phone convo. Offer Duke again after 6 weeks of no prospects.
